The Vikings have signed 27-year old Jarrad Page and 24-year old Andrew Sendejo.  Page played in 6 games for the Eagles earlier this year and he had 37 tackles and 2 passes defensed.  He has now played in 69 games in his first six years in the NFL and he has 247 tackles, 4 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 4 forced fumbles, 4 fumble recoveries, 32 passes defensed and 12 interceptions.  Page might be in the starting lineup as early as this weekend against the Broncos in Minnesota.  Andrew Sendejo has not played in the NFL so far this year.  He played in 2 games for the Cowboys last year and he had 1 tackle.

The Minnesota Vikings sign CB Benny Sapp

The Vikings have signed 30-year old cornerback Benny Sapp.  Sapp played in 1 game earlier this year for the Dolphins and he had 5 tackles and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 103 games in his first 8 years in the NFL and he has 214 tackles, 6 interceptions, 33 passes defensed, 2.5 sacks, 4 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 8 tackles for a loss.  Sapp will definitely help out the Vikings in the secondary with Antoine Winfield down for the count in 2011.

The Minnesota Vikings sign G/C Joe Berger

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 12 September 2011 at 7:21 pm

The Vikings have signed 29-year old C/G Joe Berger to a 1-year deal.  Berger played in 15 games (14 starts) for the Dolphins last year.  He has now played in 38 games (20 starts) in his first six years in the NFL.  This was a great signing for the Vikings as they had huge issues with pass protection yesterday against the Chargers.  Don’t be surprised if Berger is starting as early as this weekend at home against the Buccaneers.

The Minnesota Vikings sign LB David Herron

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Friday 26 August 2011 at 9:52 pm

The Vikings have signed 27-year old linebacker David Herron.  Herron played in 2 games for the Chargers last season and he had 2 tackles.  He has now played in 28 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 23 tackles.  Herron started his career with the Vikings in 2007 and 2008.  He played in 16 games in his first two years with the Vikings and he had 15 tackles.  Herron will try to make the Vikings as a special teams ace.

The Minnesota Vikings sign rookie RB Caleb King

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Viking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 22 August 2011 at 11:35 pm

The Vikings have signed 23-year old RB Caleb King after he went undrafted in the supplemental draft today.  King carried the ball 80 times for 430 yards (5.4 ypc) with 2 TD runs for the Georgia Bulldogs last year.  He also caught 2 passes for 8 yards (4.0 avg) last year for the Bulldogs.  King carried the ball 255 times in his three years at Georgia, good for 1,271 yards (5.0 ypc) with 10 TD runs.  He also caught 16 passes for 126 yards (7.9 avg) with 1 TD grab in college.  King will have to get off to a good start to make the Vikings’ roster as he is behind Adrian Peterson, Toby Gerhart, Lorenzo Booker and Tristan Davis on the depth chart.  That being said, I like this signing for the Vikings.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Vikings have released Caleb King.

The Minnesota Vikings sign DE Stylez G. White

Blogged under Bloglockers,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 22 August 2011 at 10:38 pm

The Vikings have signed 32-year old DE Stylez G. White to a 1-year deal.  White played in all 16 games for the Buccaneers last year and he had 36 tackles, 4.5 sacks, 4 tackles for a loss and 2 forced fumbles.  He has now played in 63 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 137 tackles, 24 sacks, 8 tackles for a loss, 2 fumble recoveries and 4 passes defensed.  This is a really solid signing for the Vikings as Stylez G. White is a good pass rusher.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Vikings have released Stylez G. White.

The Minnesota Vikings sign CB Tony Carter

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Viking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 11 August 2011 at 3:14 pm

The Vikings have signed 25-year old cornerback Tony Carter.  Carter played in 2 games for the Patriots last year and he had 1 tackle.  He has now played in 4 games in his first two years in the NFL and he has 4 tackles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 pass defensed.  Carter is going to have to make the team on special teams before he gets a whiff of playing defense.

UPDATE:  (9/3/2011) – The Vikings have released Tony Carter.

The Minnesota Vikings have signed G/T Charlie Johnson

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Viking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Tuesday 2 August 2011 at 4:13 am

The Vikings have signed 27-year old G/T Charlie Johnson.  Johnson played in 15 games (all starts) for the Colts last year.  He has now played in 73 games (54 starts) in his first five years in the NFL.  This can’t possibly make Peyton Manning happy in Indy but Donovan McNabb is probably sleeping a little easier tonight.  The Vikings will likely start Johnson at one of the guard slots in 2011.

The Minnesota Vikings sign WR Michael Jenkins

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Viking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Monday 1 August 2011 at 1:35 pm

The Vikings have signed 29-year old WR Michael Jenkins to a 3-year deal.  Jenkins played in 11 games (9 starts) for the Falcons last year and he caught 41 passes for 505 yards (12.3 avg) with 2 TD grabs.  He has now played in 103 games (64 starts) in his first 7 years in the NFL and he has caught 276 passes for 3,512 yards (12.7 avg) with 20 TD grabs.  Jenkins is a decent #2 or #3 WR, so I like this signing for the Vikings.

The Minnesota Vikings sign DT Remi Ayodele

Blogged under Bloglockers,Breaking Viking News,Free Agent Additions,Front Page,General by admin on Thursday 28 July 2011 at 11:54 pm

The Vikings have signed 28-year old DT Remi Ayodele.  Ayodele played in all 16 games for the Saints last year and he had 37 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble and 1 pass defensed.  He has now played in 44 games in his first four years in the NFL and he has 75 tackles, 5 tackles for a loss, 2.5 sacks, 2 forced fumbles, 1 fumble recovery and 1 pass defensed.  Ayodele will likely be thrown right into the fire for the Vikings as they try to rebuild the interior of the D-Line.
