Brett Favre has been outstanding this season for the Minnesota Vikings

I have been saying for years now that the only thing keeping the Vikings out of the Super Bowl was the lack of a legit starting QB.  That is no longer a problem for them.  Brett Favre has turned back the clock and he is playing some of the best football of his NFL career.  He has completed 174 of 256 passes (68%) for 1,925 yards with 16 TD passes and only 3 INTs (106.0 QB Rating) so far this season.  He has also carried the ball 5 times for -2 yards (-0.4 ypc) this season.  That is not a problem though as the Vikings never want to see Favre run the ball.  He is the one player the Vikings can’t replace so they need him healthy.

Minnesota Vikings 38, Green Bay Packers 26

Brett Favre returned to Lambeau Field for the first time since he was a Packer, and once again he stuck it to his former team.  Favre had four touchdown passes and finished the day with 244 yards on 17/28 passes.  The Minnesota Vikings (7-1) were able to hold the Green Bay Packers (4-3) to only three first half points, which proved to be vital since the Packers offense exploded for 23 points in the second half.  The Vikings scored 24 straight points after the Packers took an early 3-0 lead.  Adrian Peterson had another solid game, getting 97 yards and a touchdown on 25 carries. Aaron Rodgers and the Packers finally responded in the 3rd quarter, getting 17 straight points to make it 24-20 going into the 4th quarter.  Favre and the Vikings outscored the Packers 14-7 in the 4th to hold on for the win.

The Vikings defense was able to get a ton of pressure on Rodgers, getting six sacks.  Once again Jared Allen led the way, getting three sacks and five tackles.  Ray Edwards was able to sack Rodgers twice, adding two tackles as well.  Rodgers put up good numbers, going 26/41 for 287 yards and three touchdowns, but he didn’t have enough protection.  The defense also did a good job containing Ryan Grant to only 30 yards on 10 carries.  Favre proved once again that he still has what it takes to be a good quarterback in this league, despite his old age.
