The running game propelled the offense of the Minnesota Vikings in 2007
The Vikings couldn’t throw the football at all last season but they could sure run it. Rookie Adrian Peterson burst onto the scene as the NFL’s Offensive Rookie of the Year in 2007. He also set an all-time NFL record by rushing for 296 yards in one game! Peterson played in 14 games last season for the Vikings (9 starts) and he carried the ball 238 times for 1,341 yards (5.6 ypc) with 12 TD runs. He also caught 19 passes for 268 yards (14.1 avg) with 1 TD grab.
Chester Taylor lost his starting job to Peterson but he still played well when given the opportunity in 2007. Taylor played in 14 games (8 starts) last season for the Vikings and he carried the ball 157 times for 844 yards (5.4 ypc) with 7 TD runs. He also caught 29 passes for 281 yards (9.7 avg). Taylor has now played in 91 games (31 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 833 times for 3,659 yards (4.4 ypc) with 17 TD runs. He also has caught 176 passes for 1,306 yards (7.4 avg) with 3 TD grabs.
Mewelde Moore is buried on the Vikings’ depth chart but he would be good enough to start for a few teams in the NFL. Moore played in 12 games (0 starts) last season for the Vikings and he carried the ball 20 times for 113 yards (5.7 ypc). He also caught 6 passes for 48 yards (8.0 avg). Moore has now played in 54 games (11 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 264 times for 1,285 yards (4.9 ypc) with 1 TD run. He also caught 116 passes for 1,093 yards (9.4 avg) with 3 TD grabs.
Fullback Tony Richardson did a good job of lead blocking in the running game for the Vikings in 2007. Richardson played in 14 games (3 starts) for the Vikings last season and he carried the ball 7 times for 13 yards (1.9 ypc). He also caught 11 passes for 89 yards (8.1 avg). Richardson has now played in 186 games (106 starts) in his NFL career and he has carried the ball 407 times for 1,601 yards (3.9 ypc) with 15 TD runs. He also has caught 201 passes for 1,498 yards (7.5 avg) with 9 TD grabs.
Rookie Naufahu Tahi played in 10 games (0 starts) at fullback for the Vikings last season. He carried the football 6 times for 15 yards (2.5 ypc) and he also caught 1 pass for 7 yards.
